Al Madinah Al Munawwarah · Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The world's first fully integrated Islamic civilisation city —
built not just to house a community, but to embody one.
The first thing every resident and visitor travels. A palm-lined boulevard stretching five kilometres from the city gate directly to the Grand Masjid — flanked by date palms, wildflower gardens, and dedicated cycling paths. No billboards. No noise. Only the Masjid dome growing larger as you approach.
Named after Al-Muakhat — the bond of brotherhood the Prophet ﷺ established between the Ansar and the Muhajireen in Al Madinah. Every merchant knows their neighbour. Every transaction is halal. The Grand Masjid dome is visible at the end of every avenue.
A circular garden the size of a district — visible from every neighbourhood. Date palms, roses, jasmine and wildflowers stretching to the horizon. A central fountain. 30 bee colonies. Arabian gazelles roaming freely. This is not a park. It is the city's lungs, its larder, and its soul.
Every residential block has its own food garden. Families harvest together at golden hour. Children learn where food comes from. Elders pass on what the Prophet ﷺ taught — that planting a seed for another to eat is Sadaqah Jariyah. Rawdah grows, processes, and shares. Nothing is wasted.
"Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim." In Rawdah the library opens onto gardens. Scholars sit beside students. Children read beside elders. Doctors beside farmers. Islamic sciences alongside modern disciplines — open to every resident, every day.
The Prophet ﷺ honoured the horse and encouraged horsemanship. Rawdah's equestrian centre seats thousands under open skies — a full competition arena, training stables, and a glass-roofed clubhouse. Evening events under the crescent moon. A Sunnah kept alive for the next generation.
"The Prophet ﷺ built a city once. A place where the finance was clean, the community was one, the poor were protected, the animals were honoured, and every resident knew their neighbour.
That model has not been reproduced at comparable scale in the last 1,400 years,"."
